According to the Annenberg Adolescent Communication Institute, more than 400,000 male youths in the US and the U.K. engage in money gambling at least once a week, while over 1.7 million engage in this activity once a month. The most common methods of payment used for online gambling are credit or debit cards. The most important part of online gambling statistics is that they are regularly updated and rarely deviate from the established statistics.
Despite the increased popularity of online gambling, the prevalence of this activity remains low despite the fact that people spend more time at home. Among 18-24 year olds, the prevalence is the highest, with almost one-third reporting having gambled outside of the home in the past year. In addition, online gambling is more prevalent among younger people, and in fact, it is the second most popular form of entertainment, second only to socializing.
The vast majority of people who play online games find the experience enjoyable and entertaining. More than half of respondents say that gambling is fair. Only 38% of people believe that gambling is connected to criminal activity. Nevertheless, the majority of people believe that gambling should be legal anywhere and anytime, regardless of the age. However, there is an underlying risk associated with online gambling and many people lose control. Thankfully, this risk can be reduced with the right attitude.
