In one study, over half of male college students said they had gambled in the past year. This number was even higher among those who had a gambling problem. More specifically, men are more likely to report engaging in Internet gambling than women, as they have more freedom to make decisions. The study also showed that Internet gambling has a higher risk of developing addictions in some individuals than in others. However, this data is still limited and requires further research to draw accurate conclusions.

In the U.S., 57% of online gamblers are female and the average age is 21. Despite the high risk associated with online gambling, people are still drawn to it even during lockdowns.
