Online Gambling Statistics

The number of tribal casinos has steadily increased since 2005. In 2006, there were 372 such institutions. By 2007, there were 424. Although some believe that gambling is a harmless past time, others know better and realize that there are serious consequences associated with this activity. However, there is no clear answer as to how many of these people actually gamble. Nonetheless, there is some evidence to support that online gambling may have negative consequences.

Most online gambling is done within the home, but more people are gambling outside the house. One survey found that one in five online gamblers has gambled outside the home. While this is slightly higher than the previous year, the overall incidence hasn’t changed much. The younger age group is more likely to have used their smartphones or other mobile devices to play online. This is an unfortunate reality, especially for children. Nevertheless, it’s still an enjoyable past time.

There are numerous studies available that show that online gambling has become increasingly popular. The highest estimate came from a weighted panel in Great Britain (3.1%) and the lowest was from the USA, which reported a two percent increase. The US and Canada recorded the highest increases with estimates of between 30 and 26%. Regardless of age, online gambling is not only fun, but it can also be a significant investment. The risks associated with online gambling are real, and the benefits outweigh the risks.
